Munich, June 16, 2025 – The MTTC Iphitos first women’s team secured promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga by winning the decisive three matches on the final match day of the Regionalliga Süd. Against TC Raschke on Sunday, June 15, 2025, two singles victories and a doubles win were enough to secure the points needed to finish at the top of the table and secure promotion.
The team led by head coach Marcello Craca put in consistently strong performances throughout the season, demonstrating not only class as players but also mental stability in the decisive moments. After narrowly missing out on direct promotion last year, the team seized the opportunity this season.
Under the sporting direction of Marcello Craca and with the support of Julia Lohoff as co-trainer, the team presented itself with excellent tactics and top physical preparation. In the decisive matches on the final match day, the players showed strong nerves of steel to beat their opponents and secure their return to the second-highest German league.
This promotion means that MTTC Iphitos will be represented at DTB national level again next season – a league that stands for high sporting standards and duels on a par with experienced national league teams. The 2nd Bundesliga not only offers greater national visibility, but also an important development platform for players with ambitions to reach the international circuit level (ITF/WTA).
The successful promotion team includes:
Deborah Chiesa, Federica Di Sarra, Anastassia Grymalska, Christiana Ferrando, Anja Wildgruber, Laura Mair, Michele Zmau, Enola Chiesa, Georgina Groth, Jana Vanik, Kate Bierhoff and Antonia Pfeiffer.
The return to the Bundesliga 2 is a significant step for the performance-oriented area of the club and underlines the sporting quality that has been continuously built up in the women’s area under Marcello Craca. The focus is now on targeted preparation for a strong 2026 Bundesliga season.
