Jannik Sinner is the first No. 1 in the world rankings to register in Munich. Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz have also confirmed their participation.
Munich. The BMW Open announces the first early commitments for the first edition as an ATP 500 tournament from April 12 – 20, 2025. Three times absolute world class, three times top four of the current ATP ranking – Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz are the first three top-class starters of the traditional men’s tennis tournament at MTTC Iphitos.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in Munich for the first time. I’ll see you all in April,” said world number one Jannik Sinner. The 23-year-old South Tyrolean will be the first time in the more than 100-year history of the tournament that a number one has come to the Bavarian capital. A ranking that can no longer be taken away from him this year. This was crowned yesterday, Sunday, with his triumph at the ATP Finals in Turin – without losing a set over the entire week. He also has the following titles to his name this year: Australian Open, US Open, three Masters 1000 events and two 500 tournaments. Sinner, who is playing the most successful year of his still young career, could hardly be in better company.
Alexander Zverev, currently number two in the world rankings, will also be returning to the BMW Open next April. One and two, that’s also a first in Munich. Zverev, who already won the tournament in 2017 and 2018, can also look back on a very strong year. Including the Masters 1000 titles in Rome and Paris, the dramatic final at the French Open and, most recently, the semi-final at the Finals. “I can’t wait to see the German fans again and I’m really looking forward to coming back to Munich for the first 500 edition. It will be an exciting new chapter,” said Zverev full of anticipation.
The spectacular trio is completed by the new No. 4 in the world, Taylor Fritz. His highest ranking to date, almost crowned with the title at the ATP Finals, had it not been for a certain Jannik Sinner. The 27-year-old American, who has won two tournaments this year, not only reached the final in Turin, but also played himself into the final in Munich and at the US Open. There he also lost out to Sinner after a sensational run, having previously knocked out Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals.
The three absolute world-class players will meet again at the BMW Open 2025. Then also in a new 500-carat setting, with a new center court and even more top-class tennis.
